I think id rather have a rustler. Better engine(I have had both engines), and the driveline is stronger. The MT2 seems to have differential problems after a while. The rustler would also be easier to work on. The MT2 may do a little better off road, but probably not a lot better.

i have a friend with the mt2 and he even hates it.if you want to work on it you litterally have to take more than 1/2the truck apart to just change the spur gear.there not as fast as the rustler, the trx 2.5 is better, stronger driveline, better parts support.etc.the only thing the mt2 has on the rustler is 4wd but otherwise the rustler is basically better in every single way

Had an MT2.
After the third engine and the second set of diffs . . I sold it.
Never had any major problems with any other nitro I own. I loved the truck when it was runnin, but it just broke way too often.

HPI customer service gets an A+ though smile.gif

o yes i also forgot to mention he blew 2 of the stock engines (there garbage) he put an os 18 czr in it.and that engine was to much for the truck to handle without spending a lot of money of diffs, alu diff housings, spurs etc it would be about $150 in drivetrain upgrades to make the mt2 worthy of an os

i had the hpi mt as my first rc with a xtm.18. i loved it to bits. never had a problem but i got sick of bump start so i sold it. now im converting my HPI nitro rally into a MT2 going back to my old roots smile.gif

everyone is different when picking an rc. and it also depends on how you used it. i loved the MT! but i havent tried the rustler nor do i want to (i dont really like 2wd) but id have to say MT2 or go a different root? try something else?
