I have always wanted a R/C Truck. I was looking at the RC8Te and T4. I love the RC8Te but it's very expensive and to upkeep compared to the T4 (wheels / tires alone). The only hold back about the T4 is that it's bashing ability and it's 2wd. If I put too much power in the T4 it's gonna do wheelies for sure which I don't like. I never driven a 2wd R/C buggy/ truck so I am not sure if 2wd is any good. I am and always have been using Lipos, with the T4, seems like battery size is pretty limited to standard "NIMH" stick size pack, currently I don't see too many 11.1v lipos in a standard NIMH stick size (I cannot afford Maxamp).
I am not sure what to go for, or maybe to wait for another couple of years...... I want something that has higher ground clearance, powerful, durable, many battery size can fit type of truck. The RC8Te seems to be the way but I don't have the cash for it now for sure. The new Brushless T4.1 RTR looks good, I can find the exact hopups I want for it, something that I can afford and it's a "Truck" but I really have doubts with the Reedy 3300kv brushless motor that comes with it...also the XPS associated ESC with lipo cut off....not sure if these electronics are any good and nobody seems to know or have any information. Since the T4 has been around some time, what do you guys think about the new Brushless RTR and the Kits??? Thanks in advance. |

i have a t4 with a mamba max and traxxas 3500 and the 3500 is perfect size gear high for a 2s and low for 3s the truck is limited to the standard 6 cell nimh size its really fast and it is not build for bashing its built for racing why dont you try the 4wd slash 400 and you got everything you need but for the two trucks you thinkin of getting there is a BIG price difference in price and size and durability in my opinion the t4 is not very tough

I actually have a full list of parts / upgrades for the T4 and already put them in "shopping carts" ready to pay and go. But I was thinking the same thing too...the T4 is really meant for racing. I want something that is durable and is capable of racing too, also fun to bash around. I am going to hold on getting the T4. I thought about the Slash 4x4 as well but heard it tends to nose dive in on jumps. I don't think it will handle as good as a R/C truck. And I like the looks of Trucks rather than short course trucks. Thanks for the advise tho.. Cheers. Carrot |

You can't go wrong with a T4. It's a Proven Basher AND Racer!
You won't be disappointed with it....especially Brushless... |

Thanks for the input guys!~
Ah...scratching my head here....not sure what to do... with the RC8Te I'm gonna be spending at least around 800 bucks...... I will only go for brands such as Team Associated, Traxxas and Kyosho...that helps limiting my choices to think too much The T4 looks really fun to drive and prices are within my range....really want to consider that... any more inputs / tips guys? How different does a 2wd drives than a 4wd? I've never drive a 2wd before.........Do you need much more patient and control compared to a 4wd? I know for sure if you go fast at first the buggy/truggy will pull wheelies so taking off for sure needs more control than a 4wd? correct? and you can hardly do full throttle with 2wd? maybe a little off topic but I saw last night, pics of the new RC18T2, RC18B2, SC10 coming out? all comes with 2.4 Ghz radio. Maybe some else to consider.... |

you will notice a difference between 2wd and 4wd.but 2wd handles as good (on stadium trucks) as 4wd and hooks up just as well.it mostly depends on your setup.and with any brushless st,or mt it will wheelie if given enough power but it really depends on your setup and powerplant.and plus with the t4 vs the rc8te your parts are proboly going to be cheaper...tires and rims cheaper

Like other people said try a rusty the parts service is amazing so many HS carry traxxas parts plus you can get an xl-5 then when you get annoyed by the lack of speed you can trade in for the vxl or just get the new mamba maxx pro or stampede you can never go wrong with pedes there the king of fun and just maybe lower the ride height and maybe delete some under draft and you got your self and race and bash ready beast.

You could save come cash and get the thunder tiger stadium truck, comes in brushless, same look and feel as the t4 (i think one company owns the other) and if you don't like the 2wd and feel of it, you didnt lose as much $. Or, if you like it, then put the same upgrade parts on the cheaper one. From my personal experience, 2wd buggies and stadium trucks are fun and fast, but more suited to racing than bashing.

And I would have to say I agree to what you said. Do you have a link by any chance for the Tiger Stadium truck? I will go google as well. Cheers btw the parts for the T4 won't fit the Tiger truck right? ONe of the criteria for my next truck would be optional / aftermarket parts availability |

So I went online and started to look for some Thunder Tiger electric trucks, I don't see anywhere that has them..I checked Amain but they have the "Old" ones...
In particular I am looking at the new SPARROWHAWK XXT --- that's a 1/10 4WD Stadium truck -- First 1/10 4wd truck i've seen http://www.tiger.com.tw/product/6541-F.html Also the 2WD STa truck -PHOENIX XT --- http://www.tiger.com.tw/product/6571-F.html Both trucks come with 2.4Ghz radio (not bad by the looks of it) and brushless powered. I like the SapprowHawk XXT Again, can't find anywhere that sells them. I saw online that some places in Europe has them...but I live in Canada and I know when you get things from Europe it's always overpriced |

i'm sorry but you can not beat that for what you get..parts are alittle bit higher than traxxas rustlers, but not by much. |

Hope they'll be available in North America soon... in particular the 2 trucks that I was talking about in the posts above. Maybe when I go back to Hong Kong this year I will see them there...sure will bring back some if I see any - and for sure they would be cheaper in Hong Kong |

I really like my RC8Te!!!!!! 1000 bucks into it but worth every penny. I also like the T4.1. I had 2 HPI eFirestorms, one brushed one brushless. Those handled great. Depends on what you are looking to do. The RC8Te is great bashing and racing, big tires will stomp everything in sight. But the T4 can bash, road race,be competitive both indoors and out, on carpet or dirt, for 1/4 the price........
Good luck! |

where i live, waterproofing your rc is a necessity ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group: Official Toyz Members Posts: 1,361 Joined: 11-November 09 From: Bonney Lake WA Member No.: 23,098 |
i'd go woth the t4 because if it breaks more than likely you can get parts at a lhs or the track if your racing. it doesn't sound like it's very likely that the thindertiger one will have parts support on hand, and from the racing i've marshalled for and seen of the stadium trucks, parts breaking isn't uncommon. unlikely, but it happens. so you do want parts support in store. so that's why i'm against the thundertiger truck, parts support just sounds like it's not good since you can't find many online dealers with em.

Yeah that's the problem..parts wise....Let alone the Trucks are HARD to get !!! Can't even find the Thunder tiger trucks anywhere ! (except for one or two Europe sites) |
