Well I know I posted before in earlier threads that I wanted a new Truck...I was thinking about the 1/10 T4.1.......coz it's cheaper and I never had a 2wd thought I'd try it out..plus there are tons of parts and after market upgrades for this nice truggy.
However....I just couldn't lie to myself that I have always wanted a 1/8 car - namely, the RC8Te...... and I don't know what happened to myself I went ahead on ebay and won myself a brand new sealed in box RC8Te for $291.00 plus 65$ shipping -- ouch! I know it's not a good deal but...I really wanted the RC8te..it's my DREAM Truck!! I think I would love it more than my E-Revo Brushless. Things I am going to put in this Truck: 1. 2200kv Mamba Monster (of course) 2. Futaba FASST receiver - I have a 3PM radio --- However I may get the Futaba 2PL 2.4GHz FHSS Radio System w/R603GF Receiver since this radio kit is about the same cost as 1 FASST itself! 3. Going to try this cheap servo, apparently people said this works great on the E-Revo - let see if it's true 9 bucks come on - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/u...?idproduct=6221 4. My research tells me that the Kit comes with LRP Low Profile Rims - so I'm going to match them with JConcepts 3025 Cross Hairs - Half-ups Low Profile Truggy Tires Is there anything else missing? I'm going to use the Lipos I use for my E-revo - going to use 2 packs of 3s FlightMax 5000mah 30C. Going to "try" to solder a series connection from the Mamba Monster ESC Any more suggestions? even the slightest thing like a new heat sink would be a great advice! It's still cold in the winter - I am going to wait a little bit more if anything comes up - like NEW VERSION OF WHATEVER -- Mamba Monster? New Castle 1/8 Brushless combos? who knows , towards end of last year boom, suddenly out came the 1/10 Mamba Max PRO and boom..now they have a 9000kv or 9900?kv Motor for the Mamba Max PRO --- saw that just last night! So you never know anything new will come out, but for sure I'd need the RC8Te kit...my intuition tells me that there won't be a new 1/8 Truck from Associate for awhile - I'm taking a risk here...coz I saw Amain the RC8Te price has been reduced to $319.99 last night (I check the site almost every day, every 2 hrs). My guess is because Team Associated just came out with the RC8Te and RC8e with LRP brushless systems...maybe? come on..no new 1/8 truggy or buggy - I'll kill myself!!!! I can't afford another 1/8 kit...this is my limit.... my 1/10 Kyosho ZX-5, B44 and my E-REvo already cost me a fortune!! Not to mention the bunch of money I wasted on my RC18T - I said wasted because I bought lots of stuff I won't use anymore...like since I converted to use the alum. chassis..alot of plastic stuff like gear covers won't fit anymroe.... anyway you get my drift.... Oh I think I know why, coz today is my Birthday !!! OH rite so that's why I want to buy something for myself !! right haah I didn't even realize while typing this post! anyway, not sure what I'm getting myself into....I might spend a fortune...broke!

Long time ago I've made a youtube slide show video of my Kyosho Lazer ZX-5. Thought isn't fair for my B44 so I made a video of my current B44 as well
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD2TsEcj1QM Speed Run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL37y2_MGnI Current Setup - Running Mamba Max 6900kv combo with Futaba 3PM radio/ receiver. Ace DS 1313 servo. REEDY 7.4v 20C 2s lipo - 4800mAh. Some GPM alum. upgrades such as Alum. C-Hub, Casters, Rear Hub and Steering assembly. Other upgrades - Xtreme blue carbon fibre battery straps and Factory Team blue Alum. shock Mount. Team Associated Front and Rear anti-roll bars. And of course T-Bone B44 Front racer bumper.

I have always wanted a R/C Truck. I was looking at the RC8Te and T4. I love the RC8Te but it's very expensive and to upkeep compared to the T4 (wheels / tires alone). The only hold back about the T4 is that it's bashing ability and it's 2wd. If I put too much power in the T4 it's gonna do wheelies for sure which I don't like. I never driven a 2wd R/C buggy/ truck so I am not sure if 2wd is any good. I am and always have been using Lipos, with the T4, seems like battery size is pretty limited to standard "NIMH" stick size pack, currently I don't see too many 11.1v lipos in a standard NIMH stick size (I cannot afford Maxamp).
I am not sure what to go for, or maybe to wait for another couple of years...... I want something that has higher ground clearance, powerful, durable, many battery size can fit type of truck. The RC8Te seems to be the way but I don't have the cash for it now for sure. The new Brushless T4.1 RTR looks good, I can find the exact hopups I want for it, something that I can afford and it's a "Truck" but I really have doubts with the Reedy 3300kv brushless motor that comes with it...also the XPS associated ESC with lipo cut off....not sure if these electronics are any good and nobody seems to know or have any information. Since the T4 has been around some time, what do you guys think about the new Brushless RTR and the Kits??? Thanks in advance.

well, it looks better than the Lazer ZX-5 RTR from 2 yrs back, let see how much it costs. Available in October they say. Interesting enough, there are no Tie Rods (at least in the front) I guess the camber and steering adjustments are somewhere else?

Unless they crack or something, I don't think I would ever need to replace some of the plastic parts (i.e. Diff Cases / Bulk Heads). I have replaced some of the original B44 screws with RCScrewz's B44 Screw Kit but I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING RCSCREWZ FOR B44 because they DON"T FIT - They're TOO THICK!! -- I had to use Brass Inserts inorder to replace some of the B44 screws with the RCScrewz ones, pain in the butt. |
