8 Best Remote Control Robot Lawn Mowers

The future of lawn care will not be humans pushing mowers but AI robot mowers operating autonomously.

The next generation of lawn mowers are automated, digital, stress free, and fully remote control. And some are now coming complete with AI and terrain mapping built in.

But how do they work and should you buy one? Let’s dive in!

Riding lawn mowers can be a nice option for saving a little bit of time, but you still have to control the lawn mower and spend quite a bit of time mowing. Plus, not everyone is able to comfortably sit in or drive a riding lawn mower for extended periods of time.

The most important thing to remember when you are thinking about buying a remote control lawn mower is that it is a long-term investment. While you can expect to pay a bit of an initial cost upfront when purchasing the lawn mower, it can also save you a lot of money down the road.

This is where a remote control lawn mower (RC lawn mower) can come in handy. A remote control lawn mower is not just another RC toy. It can help save time, is safer, does a better job than traditional mowers, and is even more adorable than you might think!

What Do They Cost?

So you’re interested in getting a remote control lawn mower. You’re probably wondering about the cost of one, where you can get one, and what kind of budget you should have when you’re out shopping for a mower.

For a smaller, household remote control lawn mower, it’s probably a good idea to budget at least $1,500, but again, this can vary quite widely as robotic mowers can be between $1,00 up to $3,000.

Because you have a remote control lawn mower, you’ll spend less money on gas for a traditional lawn mower and will have a healthier lawn overall, which will prevent having to purchase things like extra fertilizer or sod to fill in dead patches.

So how do you go about finding the best remote control mower for your lawn? The remote control mower that you choose should be selected according to your specific landscape, in order to make the best possible choice.

So how exactly do you get started with a remote control lawn mower? You probably have a lot of questions, like how much it costs, what options exist, how it can be programmed, and what’s the best one for you.

There are several attractive remote control lawn mower options on the market today, so the one you will choose depends on your yard, as well as on any personal preferences that you might have. Read on to learn more about what remote control lawn mowers do, how they can help your yard, how to choose the right one, and much more!

What Do Remote Control Lawn Mowers Do?

Remote control lawn mowers work by charging electronically, then by being digitally programmed via an app, Bluetooth, or remote control device to begin mowing.

Because they have AI capabilities, unlike a traditional style lawn mower, your lawn will receive a more precise, cleaner cut which can add to the appearance of your lawn. Many are also pre-equipped with alarms and tracking systems, which can help to deter opportunistic thieves.

Remote control lawn mowers utilize sensors and Bluetooth technology to ensure your lawn receives the most even cut possible. They can even handle slopes and hills within your property’s landscape and be programmed to cut smaller amounts of grass over a more frequent number of times, which can aid your lawn’s overall health and appearance.

How Are They Different From Traditional Mowers?

Remote control lawn mowers are quite a bit different from traditional lawn mowing options, like gas powered-mowers and riding lawn mowers. One of the biggest ways that they vary from other options is that they are powered via a battery and charge electronically, similar to an e-vehicle. This means they’re more eco-friendly than traditional methods, as well as more energy efficient.

Appearance-wise, they’re usually much smaller and sleeker than other mowers and are designed to handle a wide range of various terrain. Plus, despite their electric battery, they’re actually much lighter than other mowers as well! Because they’re lighter, they’re much easier on your lawn and cause less damage and stress on the grass.

With state-of-the-art AI technology, remote control lawn mowers can truly take your lawn care game to the next level and give you a truly beautiful outdoor space and yard. These lawn mowers are equipped with sensors, Bluetooth and app capability, and a large number of customization options that just aren’t available with traditional mowers.

The features can even help you care for your lawn, as you can program your remote control mower to know key information about your lawn, like how often you’re fertilizing it and what your soil health is like.

Once your remote control lawn mower has this, it can adjust its mowing techniques and schedule accordingly. Making good use of this amazing technology can help keep your lawn happy and healthy.

Traditional lawn mowing methods are great, but they aren’t always a feasible option if you’re someone who is short on time, out of town a lot, or doesn’t want to hire a lawn mowing service. Nor are they the best method if you have a large or hilly yard, or compact spaces and lots of trees. A remote control lawn mower can help you care for your unique yard with a customized mowing routine built around key information about your lawn. Now, what could be better than that?

Perks of a Remote Control Lawn Mower

Having a remote control lawn power can offer a number of awesome benefits and parks for your yard. It can be a great investment for your property and help keep your lawn healthy and maintained. Check out some of the very best features and reasons to get a remote control lawn mower below!

It Saves You Lots of Time

One of the biggest advantages of a remote control lawn mower vs. a traditional lawn mower is how much time it is able to save you. Because you no longer have to be physically present to mow your lawn, you can focus on getting other tasks and productive things done. Your days off no longer need to be sacrificed for never-ending yard maintenance, which is especially wonderful during the hot summer months, when such work can be especially cumbersome. Simply start up your remote control lawn mower and let it do the rest! Just make sure you plan ahead with logistics like charging and an appropriate mowing schedule.

It’s a Safer Alternative to Traditional Mowers

Because it is remote-controlled and doesn’t require you to be physically present on it to operate it, a remote control lawn mower can be a much safer alternative to traditional lawn mowers. You won’t have to worry about handling gasoline and other toxic chemicals associated with lawn mower maintenance.

picture of a traditional gas powered lawn mower

It’s also a great option for people who want to maintain their lawns but might not have the physical strength or capabilities needed for traditional lawn mowing. Senior citizens and people who live with disabilities are both two demographics for whom a traditional mower might be especially helpful.

It Gets Your Lawn a Cleaner Cut

Because of their unique sensor capabilities and smart technology, remote control lawn mowers offer a cleaner cut than other lawn trimming methods. You’ll be able to adjust the length of the cut you want for your grass, plus the mowing pattern of remote control mowers can help avoid the striped pattern associated with hand-mowing your yard.

You’ll Have More Customization Options

A remote control lawn mower offers an interface where you can program and customize the lawn job your lower is about to begin. Enter information about your lawn, your soil, and the weather and your lawn mower will adjust its trimming schedule automatically. Speaking of scheduling, a smart lawn mower allows you to pre-program a mowing schedule, so you can plan around times like family activities and sprinkler watering. The attention to detail that a remote control lawn mower possesses will be reflected in the overall health and appearance of your lawn.

They Offer App and Bluetooth Control

One of the most popular and convenient features of a remote control lawn mower is its app and Bluetooth control capabilities. Control your lawn mower from anywhere from an easy-to-use app interface and adjust any settings or mow pattern that you might need. With a remote control lawn mower, you don’t even need to be home to get yard work done!

They’re a More Eco-Friendly Option

Because a remote control lawn mower is electric, its design presents a much more modern, sleek, and eco-friendly design than other mowing options. Remote control lawn mowers can charge quickly, run efficiently due to their extended battery life, and have much less of an environmental impact all thanks to their zero-emission design. Having an electric lawn mower also means that you’ll never have to worry about the rising and falling prices of gas, filling and handling fuel, or maintaining a gasoline engine in your mower.

Remote Control Mowers Are Smart

One of the best features of a remote control lawn mower is that, of course, it’s smart. The AI technology that remote control lawn mowers utilize offers a number of wonderful perks when compared to traditional mowers to keep your lawn looking its best. AI technology can make trimming the lawn a much easier process, both physically, but also from a customization perspective, due to its many sensors that provide constant information about your lawn to it. Some even have special sensors that detect rain, so they’ll automatically head back inside if it starts raining while it’s mowing the lawn.

Potential Downsides of Remote Control Lawn Mower

As with anything, there are a few potential downsides and considerations that you should take into account when thinking about purchasing a remote control lawn mower. Consider the following when shopping for a remote control lawn mower:

You’ll Need to Plan Ahead With Charging It

Because a remote control lawn mower relies on a battery supply, rather than being powered by gas, it is essential that you charge it up ahead of time. Remote control lawn mowers take time to charge, and while some charge quite fast, you’ll still end up with a dead battery fast if you don’t set aside enough charging time.

Battery Lives and Capabilities Can Vary

Not all remote control lawn mowers have the same battery life. Some last longer than others or are more powerful or require different charging capabilities, so it is vital that you find out this information when shopping for a new mower. Likewise, remote control lawn mower capabilities can vary quite a bit.

Some are different shapes, designed for different yard sizes, and offer a different app or Bluetooth programming capabilities. It’s always a good idea to do some research and comparison before committing to buying a particular model of lawn mower. Doing so can help ensure you get the best possible lawn mower choice for your yard, plus prevent any buyer’s remorse.

It May Be Tougher to Have It Serviced

Because it is inherently built differently than a traditional lawn mower, a remote control lawn mower needs to be repaired and serviced by someone who specializes in working on these kinds of mowers.

Your local hardware store or lawn mower repair service company may not be able to assist you, simply because the technology that remote control lawn mowers are built with is so new.

What Are the Best Places to Use Robotic Mowers?

The best areas to use a remote control mower in are any yard you want! There are many options for remote control mowers, even though they are a newer sort of technology, so you can be sure you can find an option that works perfectly for you. However, some particular yard owners may be especially drawn to the many benefits of remote control mowers.

People Who Have Bigger Yards

Mowing a large yard is tiring and time-consuming, so remote control lawn mowers offer an attractive option for maintaining your yard. And overall mowing is just one part of keeping a beautiful lawn.

Many remote control lawn mowers are specifically designed for bigger yards and are equipped with long battery lives to make sure the mowing job gets done. These mowers offer precision and consistency, which can be difficult to achieve when you have a particularly large yard.

Yards with Compact Areas

If your yard has a lot of low or compact areas, such as due to landscaping or large trees, a remote control mower can be a great option.

Because of their size and portability, remote control mowers can easily reach and trim those tough-to-reach areas on your lawn. Days of crouching or trying to trim problem areas are over! Simply start up your remote control mower and it will handle the rest.

Yards with Steep Hills

Yards with areas of steep hills or grades can pose mobility and safety issues when you are cutting your grass. They can also be very time-consuming and physically demanding, especially when considering the fact that you must push your mower up the hill. Riding lawn mowers pose the risk of flipping and causing a dangerous injury if they cannot handle the demands of the hill. Thus, remote control mowers can present a very attractive solution for those who possess yards with hilly terrain.

Final Thoughts on Robotic Remote Control Mowers

Having a lawn can lend a relaxing, welcoming feel to your backyard, as well as add curb appeal and value to your property. However, Part of having a lawn is committing to regularly caring for and maintaining it, so its appearance and health are the best that they can be.

The mowrator for 2025

I wanted a Husq last year, and heart great things. But the mowrator is by far the best autonomous mower of 2025. It's an incredible value for the price.

Husqvarna 315XH

Husqvarna’s models are good, but they’re more expensive. You’re missing one brand. Their robot lawn mowers are not only high-quality but also more affordable.

DareDevil if you dare...

The DareDevil is expensive but worth it. The cut is clean and even, making my lawn look professionally maintained. I also love the gas and electric dispenser feature, which makes refueling a breeze. The Daredevil is quiet, efficient, and fun to use. It's completely transformed my lawn care routine, saving me time and effort. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an innovative and effective solution for lawn maintenance.

DareDevil is a great addition

I purchased the Worx mower for our company to try out and it's worked great, however my next upgrade will be the DareDevil. That seems like a heavy duty version that can do some serious work. Great list overall, I found it really helpful.

Husqvarna if you can afford it

At nearly $4,000 after taxes, the Husqvarna seems out of budget for most people. However, if you own a lawn care company or have a big yard, it makes a ton of sense. All the products I have bought from them, including their robotic mower, have been amazing in terms of quality and durability.
